Did you know the Canadian National Pagan Conference is happening in Toronto this year, in less than two weeks?
The seventh Canadian National Pagan Conference, Gaia Gathering, will be held at New College, University of Toronto, Ontario, over the May long weekend, May 18th - 21st, 2012.
The theme is “Building the Mosaic.” Each of us are individuals which make up the whole of the community. By bringing together pieces of our respective communities and local groups during the conference, we build a representation of the larger Canadian Pagan Mosaic. Mosaics have been made since the earliest of times, using wood, metal, clay, glass and any other materials to create a larger picture out of individual pieces. We are all individuals and yet part of the larger whole. As the pagan community in Canada is made up of many groups of different traditions the city is made up of many different cultures. We gather to create a wonderful mosaic of which the land we live is the mortar.
In addition to conference panel discussions, workshops and talks, the artistic element of the conference with a focus on photographic art exhibit showcasing photographer’s art from across the county. In addition, there will be mosaic display of photographs depicting locations where attendees and other members of the Canadian Pagan Community live. We will invite pagans from across the country to submit photos to be exhibited in the mosaic display.
New College is located near Chinatown and walking distance from Kensington Market. This site has a large space that can be used for ritual that can also be used for vendors, the art show and registration. This space is open to the university public which will give visibility to the vendors and the art show. It is bright and airy feeling with lots of windows.
