Wonderworks Deck of the Week: Pagan Tarot
By: Gina M. Pace (Lo Scarabeo)
This deck is a contemporary, fresh take on Tarot imagery and is geared towards Wiccans and Pagans. While the structure is somewhat based upon the standard Rider-Waite-Smith deck, there are some notable differences, such as the use of new imagery specific to the modern world that grounds it in every day life (computers, cars, job interviews, apartments, social events etc.) and the court cards have been replaced with elementals (page), novices (kinght), initiates (queen), and elders (kings).
One of the things that I really like about this deck is the melding of mundane life happenings with the magical realm, it essentially puts forth the idea that there is magic is every possible scenario or location. Overall, the card meanings are easy to learn or interpret intuitively, based upon each card’s illustration.
This is an interesting deck to add to your collection if you are interested in its theme or subject matter.
